IWYP science brief #37 "Community screening of wheats containing exotic DNA" showcases the 330 stable introgression lines carrying introgressions from wheat wild relative species available at the Nottingham BBSRC Wheat Research Centre. Our wheat/wild relative toolkit carrying these 330 stable lines with a further 600+ lines in development are available to be screened for any trait of interest.

April 2023

An enjoyable trip to Monogram 2023 at Reading University was had by the WRC, with Dr Stella Edwards talking on Photosynthetic heat tolerance in wheat's wild relatives. PhD Student Nicola Walter also spoke on using EMS to find the gametocidal gene in Ae. sharonensis introgression lines plus posters from Jake Hill and Jack Walker on their PhD work.

March 2023

We are super proud of Veronica Guwela for being one of the winners of the 2023 Borlaug Laube Women in Triticum Early Career Award for her work on exploiting wider genetic variation among wheat wild relatives to identify sources for increased grain zinc and iron concentration for sub saharan wheat. Congratulations Veronica!

This IWYP collaboration on wheat wild relatives and photosynthesis with @plantyperson and @Erikmurchie was a great team effort between Nottingham, Lancaster, Essex and Bristol. Out now in New Phytologist.
