On average, you will have around 20-25 contact hours per week, typically consisting of:

  • 18 hours of lectures and seminars
  • 4 hours of design workshops
  • 4 hours of supervised lab practicals
  • 1 hour per week of one-to-one tutorials

The above will vary as you progress through your degree to allow more independent design projects.

You will also continue your learning independently through a combination of coursework and self-study. Your independent learning will be supported by a range of excellent facilities, including the library, Moodle and our engineering and computer laboratories.

The highlight of my time was getting to know other people at the university that have now become lifelong friends. University is so much more than just getting a degree and while stressful at times, I’d do it all over again. I think the chemical engineering course manages to bring such a strong sense of community. Everyone has to work so closely on various group work and it makes such a difference.
