University of Nottingham Sport recognised at national CUBO Awards 2025

University of Nottingham Sport has once again been recognised by the College & University Business Officers (CUBO), celebrating excellence across the Higher Education sector’s commercial and campus services.

At the 2025 CUBO Awards Dinner, held on Wednesday 11 June at Northumbria University, the department received national recognition for its work enhancing student experience, championing inclusion, and delivering sector-leading events.

University of Nottingham Sport took home the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Spotlight Award, recognising our continued efforts to embed inclusion across all areas of university sport. From the development of the Black Sport Collective to tailored provision for disabled students and expanded LGBTQIA+ visibility, our work has led to a marked increase in participation from underrepresented groups. This award acknowledges the positive impact of our programmes in fostering a stronger sense of belonging, equity, and opportunity for all students.

In addition to this, the University of Nottingham was honoured with the inaugural Judges’ Choice Award, recognising the university’s standout performance across multiple award categories. This prestigious accolade is awarded at the discretion of the judging panel to the institution whose submissions demonstrated exceptional breadth, innovation, and alignment with the values of the sector. Nottingham’s recognition reflects the strength and consistency of its work in student sport, inclusion, event delivery, and overall campus experience. The Judges commended the university’s collective impact, noting its ability to deliver transformative experiences across the board.

University of Nottingham Sport was also nominated for CUBO’s Excellence in Student Sporting Experience and Creativity in Conferencing, Events and Hospitality awards, which highlight an outstanding commitment to sector-leading impact on student wellbeing and engagement, and an innovative approach to event delivery, hospitality, and large-scale conferencing, respectively.
