Recognising the influences on PCE-CfD from both person-centred therapy and emotion-focused therapy, we will have the opportunity to explore how process-facilitation can help clients to process and regulate emotions. In this experiential training there will be opportunities to observe or practice some of the following within a PCE-CfD context:
Depending on timing and preferences within the group we may also consider aspects of working with trauma and/or neurodiversity.
The group size is limited to 20 places in the hope that those wishing to have a short observed practice in the therapist role will have the opportunity to do so.
The training will be facilitated by Dr Richard Doyle, who has developed PCE-CfD training activities at the University of Nottingham since 2021. Richard has published a book chapter on PCE-CfD [Doyle & Murphy (2024), in: The Tribes of the Person-Centred Nation (3rd edition), PCCS, chapter 6] and his chapter on A Person-Centred Approach to Depression is due to be published in 2026.
Participants must be practicing counsellors or psychotherapists, having already completed an initial training at a level appropriate for practicing membership of the BACP/UKCP/NCPS or equivalent. Some experience of PCE-CfD training (for example being in the middle of a course or having completed a course) is recommended.
