Students with a disability support plan are eligible to borrow assistive equipment from our libraries.
This new service is an expansion of our Assistive Technology Rooms, and we will now provide access to assistive equipment for use anywhere within library buildings.
What is assistive equipment?
Assistive equipment refers to devices designed to help you perform certain activities if you have a disability, restricted mobility, or other impairment.
Whether you need specialised mice and keyboards when working on a PC, or ear defenders to reduce distracting sounds, we’ll be providing specialist assistive equipment so you can study more effectively.
Assistive equipment loanable from libraries such as:
- Dimmable lamps
- Ergonomic mice and keyboards
- Wireless headphones
- Coloured overlays
- Ear defenders

How to access equipment
To borrow equipment, simply approach library staff at our reception desks, ask for the equipment you would like to borrow and provide your university card. They will then place the items on your library account.
You can borrow assistive equipment for up to 3 hours, however you can renew items if they are still available. The equipment can be used anywhere within the library building.
