Libraries over the summer

Thursday, 29 May 2025
It’s nearly the end of term and summer vacation is just around the corner. Whether you’re planning to head home or preparing to stay on campus over the summer, libraries are here to help.

Opening hours

Our libraries will stay open throughout the summer to support those working on assessments. All libraries will enter vacation opening hours, and 24/7 opening in three libraries will end from Thursday 12 June.

Library staff are here to help, get in touch by phone, email, social media or live chat.

Off-campus resources and spaces

If you’re away from campus this summer these resources might help:

  • SCONUL Access - sign-up to access university libraries across the country so you can study closer to home.
  • Digital scan requests - for copies of printed materials (within copyright restrictions).
  • Postal loans - if you want a physical copy we can send it directly to you if you meet the eligibility criteria.

Borrowing books

If you’re planning to take books off-campus check your email regularly to see if these have been requested and are due for return.

Looking for a good read for the vacation period? Browse our Leisure Reading Collection for your next good read – we recently added 27 new bestsellers to the collection.

Returning books

Don’t forget to return any books you don’t need to our libraries before you leave. You can return books by post, via our 24/7 book boxes outside libraries or through our self-service machines.
