Sanskar More – MSc Finance and Investment
Sanskar More, an international student from India, chose the MSc Finance and Investment course at Nottingham University Business School to turn his passion for numbers into a dynamic career in finance. Drawn to the fast-paced, analytical nature of the sector, he wanted to build a strong foundation that would allow him to succeed in the global financial industry.
Sanskar explained: “I’ve always enjoyed playing with numbers and analysing data. Finance gives me the perfect space to challenge myself, think strategically, and stay curious.”
The University of Nottingham quickly became his top choice. Its global reputation, strong rankings, and highly regarded Finance and Investment programme stood out. Sanskar said: “The course here is ranked highly, and the university is one of the most respected in the world. That combination made it an easy decision.”
One of the highlights for Sanskar so far has been the Private Equity and Venture Capital module.
“It’s my favourite because it includes a lot of real case studies, and the professor is fantastic at bringing the subject to life,” he said. “You’re not just learning theory - you’re seeing how it plays out in real investment decisions.”
The Business School’s focus on practical experience has been instrumental for Sanskar. Events, workshops, and student societies have opened doors to networking and helped him prepare for the professional world.
He said: “I’ve attended several events and joined UONTIS, the University of Nottingham Trading and Investment Society. It’s helped me grow my knowledge and connect with people with similar interests”.
Sanskar aims to secure a placement in London, where he hopes to gain hands-on experience in the finance sector before launching a career in the UK after graduation. Long-term, he plans to return to India and channel his knowledge into building his own business. He shared: “My dream is to work for a few years in the UK to gain global exposure and then go back to India to start my own company”.
Outside his studies, Sanskar is working toward digital certifications in R and Python to strengthen his technical skills, which are essential in modern finance. He’s also passionate about sports, with a background in competitive MMA and powerlifting.
For Sanskar, life in Nottingham offers the best of both worlds. “It’s peaceful during the day, which makes it great for studying, but it transforms into a lively city at night,” he said. “It’s a unique vibe, and the people here are genuinely friendly.”
Reflecting on his time so far, Sanskar encourages prospective students to make the most of every opportunity, both in and out of the classroom. He reflected:
“There’s so much to explore - amazing modules, practical experiences, and a strong student community. If you’re open to learning and connecting, the Business School will give you everything you need to grow.”
