Peiyue Song - MSc Human Resource Management and Organisation
Peiyue Song chose the MSc Human Resource Management and Organisation course at Nottingham University Business School to build on the foundations of her undergraduate studies and take the next step toward a professional HR career.
“This course aligned closely with my undergraduate background, making it a natural progression”, she explained. “I wanted to deepen my understanding and gain a more global perspective. Also, the University of Nottingham’s strong international reputation and high QS ranking played a key role in my decision to study here.”
Learning and research opportunities
Peiyue particularly enjoyed the International Human Resource Management module highlighting both the content and the approach to teaching. She said: “The course content is really interesting, and the teaching style is very accessible. It’s well-paced and helps you absorb complex ideas easily.”
As part of her degree, Peiyue undertook a dissertation exploring how human resource management is evolving for Generation Z employees in China. She explained: “I’m part of Gen Z, so I can relate to the topic. Many real-life examples around me have inspired my research. It’s exciting to investigate something so relevant and meaningful.”
Career preparation and future goals
Peiyue credits the Business School with helping her build essential career skills, from writing a standout CV to preparing for interviews.
After graduation, Peiyue plans to return to China and begin her HR career, equipped with the knowledge and international insight gained from her studies in the UK.
Student life and experiences beyond the classroom
Beyond her academic work, Peiyue has embraced other opportunities, such as becoming a student representative. She also joined a university travel association, making the most of her time both on and off campus.
Peiyue has enjoyed living in Nottingham. She said,
“It’s a beautiful place with a great environment and easy transport. It’s easy to get around, and there’s always somewhere peaceful to relax or explore.”
