Hongda Jin - MSc Management
Hongda Jin studied MSc Management at Nottingham University Business School in 2024–25. He was drawn to the course for its strong interdisciplinary focus, designed to equip students with the core management skills needed to succeed in leadership roles.
The university’s reputation as a world-leading Russell Group institution, recognised for its excellence in teaching and research, played a key role in his decision to study at Nottingham.
He said: “My favourite module is Strategy and Leadership, which gave me a basic understanding of enterprise strategy, a clear understanding of long-term planning of enterprises by using relevant management tools, and a basic analysis of business operations by combining the latest cases and enriched past cases.”
At Nottingham University Business School, students have the opportunity to gain experiences beyond the classroom. Hongda took advantage of this - studying Microsoft certifications alongside his degree - as well as attending field trips to companies such as JCB, and hearing from guest speakers from a range of industries.
He added: “These experiences enabled me to have a deep understanding of various occupations in a short period of time and made me have a clear plan for my future career choices.”
Hongda also took part in social and recreational opportunities at university. As a member of the Business School social committee, he helped students to get to know each other. He also took advantage of the excellent sports facilities on campus including swimming, badminton, and football.
He said:
“My favourite thing about living in Nottingham was the opportunity to take part in so many sports - the stronger I am, the more determined I am!”
