Aakash Parameswaran - MSc Digital Marketing
Aakash Parameswaran, an international student from India, chose the MSc Digital Marketing course at Nottingham University Business School to strengthen his expertise to enable him to pursue a global career in marketing. With a passion for digital innovation, he wanted to explore how the rapidly evolving digital landscape influences consumer behaviour and brand strategy.

Industry connections and career preparation
One of the highlights of the course for Aakash has been the Digital Marketing Communications module, where students collaborate with real B2B clients. He explained: “I was able to apply theoretical concepts to real-world challenges, enhancing my understanding of how digital strategies are developed and executed in a professional setting. Collaborating with an actual client improved my communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, making the learning experience both practical and rewarding.”
In addition to client consultancy projects, Aakash has attended guest lectures and networking events that offered valuable insights into the marketing industry.
The Business School’s focus on employability helped him build a solid foundation in digital marketing while developing key professional skills. He said: "These opportunities enhanced my strategic thinking, communication, and teamwork skills while providing valuable industry exposure. I feel more confident and prepared to apply my knowledge effectively in a professional marketing environment."
Outside of lectures, Aakash joined the Digital Marketing Academy, where he visited a local digital agency. This gave him a behind-the-scenes look at how paid media strategies are developed and implemented, offering hands-on insight into the industry and valuable networking opportunities with marketing professionals.
Life in Nottingham
Aakash embraced student life in Nottingham and quickly discovered what makes the city such a great place to live. He shared:
“My favourite thing about living in Nottingham is its perfect balance between a lively city vibe and peaceful green spaces. There’s always something happening, from cultural events to food festivals, yet it’s still easy to find quiet spots to relax or study. Everything is very accessible, which is convenient. Now I'd call this city home.”
